Symptom

You may see the following error when attempting to perform actions on remote systems, like managing domains via eNom or  hosting accounts on servers:

CURL Error: 56 - OpenSSL SSL_read: error:14095126:SSL routines:ssl3_read_n:unexpected eof while reading, errno 0
 

Cause

A system update to OpenSSL version 1.1.1e in EasyApache 4 version 2020-4-1 contains changes that cause this error. OpenSSL developers detected the issue and fixed it in July 2022.

Solution

Updating to OpenSSL version 1.1.1f will resolve this error. For more information, see cPanel Support's article on the issue.
