Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") explains what's not allowed across every service Vercaa operates — hosting, domains, VPN, email, and every Market Connect add-on — so the shared infrastructure behind all of it stays safe and usable for everyone.

1. Overview & Scope

This AUP applies to every service you order from Vercaa, including Web Hosting, domain registration, VPN (NordVPN), Website Security (SiteLock), Backup (CodeGuard), Email & Email Security (OpenXchange), SSL certificates, and 360 Monitoring. It forms part of our Terms of Service.

You're responsible for your own use of the Services and for anyone you allow to use them under your account, including end users of any site or application you host with us.

2. Prohibited Content & Activities

You may not use any Vercaa service to store, host, transmit, or distribute:

  • Malware, ransomware, viruses, or any code designed to damage, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to a system.
  • Phishing pages or content designed to impersonate another person, brand, or organization to obtain credentials or payment details.
  • Content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights.
  • Child sexual abuse material, or any content exploiting minors — this is a zero-tolerance violation resulting in immediate termination and, where required, a report to the relevant authorities.
  • Content or activity that is illegal under applicable law.

3. Spam & Unsolicited Email

You may not use our Services — including our Email and Email Security offerings — to send unsolicited bulk email ("spam"), to relay mail on behalf of a third party without authorization, or to send email using forged headers or a falsified sender identity. This applies whether the mail originates directly from a Vercaa-hosted mail service or from a script/application running on your hosting account.

4. Security Violations

You may not attempt to gain unauthorized access to any system, account, or network, whether ours or a third party's; run port scans, vulnerability scans, or denial-of-service attacks against systems you don't own or have explicit permission to test; or attempt to interfere with, disable, or circumvent any security measure on our platform, including Imunify360, the malware and firewall protection running on our hosting infrastructure.

5. Shared Resource & Fair Use

Hosting plans share underlying infrastructure with other customers, so we ask that you use only the resources allocated to your specific plan — CPU, memory, processes, and storage — in a way that doesn't degrade the experience of other customers on the same infrastructure. cPanel, included on every hosting plan, gives you visibility into your own account's resource usage.

If an account is consistently and significantly exceeding fair use in a way that impacts other customers, we'll generally try to reach out first — but we may throttle, suspend, or ask you to upgrade the affected account if the impact is severe or ongoing.

6. VPN Acceptable Use

Our VPN service, resold through NordVPN, is intended for private, encrypted access to the internet. You may not use it to conduct illegal activity, to circumvent security controls you don't have authorization to bypass, or to abuse or attack other networks or services while connected — using a VPN to access the Service doesn't change what's a Prohibited Activity under Sections 2-4 above; it still applies in full.

7. Email Service Acceptable Use

Our Email and Email Security services (resold through OpenXchange, with spam/phishing filtering) may not be used for spam (Section 3), phishing, or as an open relay for third-party mail. We may apply automated spam/abuse filtering to protect the deliverability and security of our shared mail infrastructure for all customers.

8. Reporting Abuse

If you believe a Vercaa-hosted site, domain, or account is being used to violate this policy — for example, a phishing page or spam source — please open a support ticket with as much detail as you can (the URL, IP address, or email headers involved). We review abuse reports directly; we don't currently publish a separate dedicated abuse@ mailbox, so a support ticket is the fastest way to reach us for this too.

9. Enforcement & Consequences

Depending on the severity of a violation, we may: ask you to correct the issue within a reasonable time; temporarily suspend the affected Service while we investigate; or terminate the Service entirely for a severe or repeated violation. For the content types in Section 2 that are zero-tolerance (in particular child exploitation material), we'll act immediately and without a prior warning.

See our Terms of Service, Section 14, for the general suspension and termination rules that apply alongside this section.

10. Effect on Refunds

If a Service is suspended or terminated for violating this Acceptable Use Policy, amounts already paid for that Service are not refundable — see our Refund Policy, Section 10, for the full rule.

11. Governing Law

This Acceptable Use Policy is part of our agreement with you and is governed by the same law as our Terms of Service — see that document's "Governing Law & Disputes" section for the applicable jurisdiction.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this AUP as new abuse patterns, services, or legal requirements emerge. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the Services after an update means you accept the revised policy.

13. Contact Us

To report abuse or ask about this policy, use our real support channels — see Section 8 for reporting abuse specifically:

See also our Privacy Policy for how we handle any information collected in the course of investigating an abuse report.
